My second hand treasures #3

DSC_1912

WHAT: Winlit fringe leather jacket
WHERE: Goodwill, 5855 Lankershim Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 91601, USA
PRICE: 67 DKK (10 USD)

One of my roomies, who had been to LA before, told me about Goodwill. He said they had a lot of brands for just a few dollars, because the rich people donate their clothes to this thrift shop. So of course I had to check it out. Brands that I saw: Calvin Klein, DKNY, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Banana Republic, Steve Madden, DC, Adidas, GAP, Hale Bob, H&M, Zara and Forever21. The prices are really good. A lot of it is like new or in good condition, but there is also a lot of rubbish, so you need to have patience and to be lucky to find something really good. I think it is definitely worth a visit if you are into shopping second hand.

Hiking to the Hollywood sign

Ready to go!

The hike to the Hollywood sign is really nice and not so tough as the one in Runyon Canyon. You should really go up there, if you are in LA. You will have the most amazing view from there to both downtown and the Valley. It is possible to see the sign from pretty close, but there is a fence, so you can’t get all the way to it and there are police helicopters watching that no one is jumping the fence. I really loved this hike! LA is so beautiful.

I made a lot of small stops on the way up to the sign to enjoy this amazing view to downtown. The weather wasn’t the best, but it didn’t really matter. I loved it.

On our way down it was pretty cloudy and cold, but still beautiful.

A magical afternoon in Santa Monica

DSC_1914

While we were on our way to Santa Monica Beach I was just super excited. There is just something special about beaches… I always feel so happy when I’m near the sea. It is even more amazing when the sky has this unbelievable blue color and it’s sunny like here in California. I could spend a lot of time by the sea. One of the things I appreciate the most about Denmark is actually that you are never too far away from one, as I probably would not like it too much to live somewhere without a beach nearby. Every time I saw California beaches on the tv or on pictures I was stunned, so I could not wait to see them in real life. By the way it was also the first time I saw the Pacific Ocean. I was not disappointed to say the least.

Other than the surroundings, I really liked to watch people do all kinds of activities, that they seemed to do frequently. People are walking on the lines and swinging in the rings on the beach. It is so much harder than it looks. I tried to swing in the rings and I sucked pretty much, haha. A lot of people bike and skate by the beach. The coolest way to get around though is an electric longboard from Boosted. They are super popular here on the West Coast and we saw a bunch of people on those. Santa Monica is just the coolest place ever!

I just loved the atmosphere in Santa Monica. It was so much fun to watch the locals while they were doing all kinds of activities.

The colorful and weird houses by the beach made everything look so cool.
